One of the first things you learn in accounting 101 is the importance of the chart of accounts. The backbone of your entire business, the chart of accounts is where all of your general ledger accounts reside. The chart of accounts records every financial transaction that your business has made. No, but they are all different, and sometimes different is exactly what your business needs. While some of the alternative applications are stronger in certain areas, others may offer a feature not found in QuickBooks Online. Excellent help and support is included in Zoho Books, with both telephone and email support options available, along with numerous guides ideal for new users.
The accounts you connect will be shown on your home screen and will populate the items listed in your inbox. The Kashoo cloud accounting software is best suited for business owners just starting out — especially freelancers, contractors and other solopreneurs. Sage Business Cloud Accounting offers two plans; Accounting Start, which offers basic features, for $10/month and Accounting, which includes bill processing, quotes and estimates, and reporting options and runs $25/month. Once you create an invoice, you can easily track it in Sage Business Cloud Accounting, and you can also manage stock, non-stock, and service items in the application. In addition, you can accept online payments from customers and pay vendors using ACH transfers. This structure, while simple, is sufficient for small businesses that don’t need to track inventory or purchase returns and allowances. Kashoo does fall short on reporting options, with limited reports available, though the application can run basic financial statements. The application also includes a good inventory management feature, with options to manage both regular stock and non-stock items.
Tracking Income and Expenses
In addition, FreshBooks includes time tracking, project management, and client estimate features plus the ability to create a client proposal. An excellent choice for sole proprietors and new businesses, Kashoo combines an easy-to-use interface with solid accounting capability, including a default chart of accounts. Unlike other software applications, Kashoo does not include an option for importing an existing chart of accounts. OneUp offers good accounting capability, including custom invoice creation as well as a good inventory management module. You can request payment from your customers on their invoice, with a link to online payment options.
When the invoice is paid, you can enter payment information from the same screen. Kashoo also includes good bill payment capability, with an option to run checks to pay vendors, something many of its competitors fail to offer. The application also includes a Contacts feature that can be used to manage customers, vendors, and employees from one central location.
